I came to live and work in Fukushima Prefecture this August. Everyone has treated me with amazing kindness and generosity and I count myself very lucky to have been placed here! Last month I visited Aizu where I met with local people to learn about the effects of the earthquake across the region. I met people displaced by the earthquake and was amazed by the optimism and energy they had shown in starting new businesses and rebuilding their communities.
My friends and family were initially concerned when I told them I was going to live in Fukushima. So it’s wonderful that I can tell them that Fukushima is such a positive and optimistic place, and that it has made incredible progress over the past three years. Gambatte Fukushima!
