Fukushima Fight!
This is my first year on the JET programme and my third time in Japan since the Great East Japan Earthquake. In 2011 I was granted the opportunity to go to Japan under the JENESYS Program (now known as KIZUNA Program) to witness for myself the aftermath of the earthquake/tsunami. I was amazed at how much progress has been made since the time of the disaster til the time I visited, middle of December 2011. If it was not for that experience I possibly would not be here living happily in Shirakawa city today.
My impression of Fukushima has not changed since 2011, I still think Fukushima is an amazing place with a very close-knit community. Despite all the negative headlines, the students of the schools I teach at always put in their all when it comes to Fukushima. One of my kids said that he would use Fukushima produce to create food so unbelievably delicious that it would make people take back their words about the food being dangerous. I believe that Fukushima will be back better than before with students like these!
