I traveled to Tokyo two years ago, and last year, I spent my semester abroad in Shiga Prefecture, so I was excited to see a new part of Japan, and, personally, had no worries about living in Fukushima.
However, I was afraid of what other people might think. “How will I explain this to everyone?”
In the three months I have been here, I have already visited many places. I’ve seen how rice is scanned for safety and heard reports from people from local businesses about how hard they all work to recover their home. When I ride my bike around Date, I find it difficult to get anywhere without stopping to take pictures, even though I’m not much of a photographer.
The both the natives and the other English teachers who live here are friendly and hardworking, so much so that I know this was the best place in Japan to come to as an English teacher.
