There is so much more to an event like the 2011 disaster in Fukushima than what appears in the news. When I learned that I had been placed in Fukushima, I began frantically reading as much news as I could, but when I arrived and met for myself the wonderful and resilient people who live here and saw for myself the beautiful scenery that was unaffected by the disaster, I quickly came to love Fukushima as a second home.
