I live in Buenos Aires. The Atucha I and II Nuclear Power Plants are located about 100 Kilometers away. The government recently announced the commencement of construction of a third power plant. A lot of people accepted this news as a symbol of progress for the country and its economic development. However unfortunately I cannot feel the same way after seeing the damage to the environment, and pain caused to people that occurred after the accident at the TEPCO Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. It is almost impossible to grasp how much damage the nuclear accident has caused to the environment and local economy. Due to my experiences in Fukushima, I can no longer be a supporter of nuclear power.
