I was lucky enough to visit Fukushima in December 2012 as part of the Japanese government's Kizuna Project. My brief visit has placed Fukushima at the top of the list of places I would like to visit again.
Fukushima in December was beautiful with the landscape dusted with literally sparkling snow. To add to this beautiful scenery were the wonderful people of Fukushima who made my trip even more memorable. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, which made leaving these new friends difficult. I was also moved to learn about the resilience of the people of Fukushima as we heard first hand of their personal experiences of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
I now love to share my stories of Fukushima with my friends and family here in New Zealand and encourage them to visit Fukushima if they have the chance.
