I have been living in Fukushima for 2 years now. I have heard the worst and the best news from this little corner of the globe. My message is this, “Fukushima is not the scary terrible problem that the internet makes it out to be.” Before you believe the 100 different things you will read on the internet about this area and the situations with the radiation zone, at least talk to one person who is living in this prefecture. Yes, radiation is scary. No, Fukushima is not a giant radioactive wasteland. The areas affected by the March 2011 disaster are recovering. It is a process and it takes time, but Fukushima will pull through. Show Fukushima some support and buy Fukushima products, strawberries, apples, and peaches are all delicious if you are looking for where to start. In summary, Fukushima is a great place and though it has a long road ahead there are no reasons not to visit this amazing place and see for yourself how far they have come.
