Population： 5.98 million (As of 2024/ About 3.4 times that of Fukushima Prefecture) Area：43,094 square kilometres (about 3.1 times that of Fukushima Prefecture) Capital：Copenhagen Key Features:  (1) The gross national income per person ranks 8 in the whole world. (2) The main industries are the energy industry and agriculture. (3) Wind power is particularly popular among renewable energy sources, accounting for approximately 48% of Denmarks electricity. District heating is also advancing. (4) Many related companies, including international wind turbine manufacturers, have established bases here, making it a major hub for the wind power industry.

In the attendance of the 10. King of the Kingdom of Denmark, Frederick X,the Danish Embassy in Japan, Fukushima Prefecture, Tokyo and Hokkaido, the declaration to promote "Green Transformation" (GX) was signed. 

Signing of an MoU on the Promotion of Economic Exchange（December 2014）

In December 2014 Fukushima Prefecture has signed an MoU with the Royal Danish Embassy. Its aim is the promotion of economic exchange in the field of renewable energy. Denmark has set a national goal to increase its share of renewables in the energy supply and demand, which is already about one third, to at least 50% until the year 2030. It is also planned to reduce the share of fossil fuels in the energy mix to zero until the year 2050.

Signing of an MoU between State of Green (SOG) and EnergyAgency.FUKUSHIMA (EAF)（May 2019）

On 23rd May 2019 an MoU has been signed between SOG, a public-private partnership from Denmark, which aim is to foster relations with international stakeholders and help the green transition, and EAF which promotes the development of renewable energy in Fukushima Prefecture. Denmark is one of the most advanced nations when it comes to renewable energy.
